While we here at Monk headquarter have got nothing against a good lyric, Theloneliestmonk is dedicated to celebrating music that doesn’t need ‘em.
We’ve got a particular fondness for that brand of adventurous mid-sixties hard bop that has a tough inside/outside layer of fiery badness, along with a chewy center of hot buttered soul. But while hard bop may be our gravy we’re always broadening our horizons and expand our parameters, following the muse of big eared DJ armatures: bluegrass, classical, Ethiopian jazz, turntablism, no-wave, soundtracks and scores, or post-whatever…
